Contextualizing Kind of Blue
Kind of Blue is the namesake of the iconic Modal Jazz album by Miles Davis. The thematic pallet of Kind of Blue's narrative is inspired by the technical elements of the album. Modal Jazz employed the use of musical scales which were called "modes". Inspired by that notion, the play explores the modality of masculinity by illustrating the different ways in which masculinity can be manifested.
